Automotive aromatherapy diffusers are used in automobiles to improve the fragrance of the air within the passenger compartment. They are normally plugged into the empty cigarette lighter socket of a conventional automobile. The electrical system of the automobile, among other things, energizes an internal resistor which provides heat to a fragrance laden pad. The heat from the resistor energizes the fragrance in the pad and dispels the fragrance to the interior of the passenger compartment.
One of the problems of such a device is that the heat from the resistor is not adjustable in present diffusers. The inability to adjust the heat leads not only to the inefficient diffusion of the oils in the fragrance laden pad, but also in circuit boards presently used, the risk of system failure and even fire are always present. In addition, present diffusers have no cover to surround the heated pad to prevent one from touching the pad and being burned.
It is therefore a principal object of this invention to provide an automotive aromatherapy diffuser that is capable of regulating the heat provided to the fragrance pad in a safe and efficient manner.
Another object of this invention is to avoid operational malfunction.
A further object of this invention is to provide an automotive aromatherapy diffuser that is safe to use and operate.
These and other objects will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
An automotive air freshener for insertion into a cigarette lighter socket of a vehicle has an elongated housing having first and second ends and opposite sides. A first electrical contact is in the first end of the housing and protrudes from the inside to the outside of the housing. Second electrical contacts are on the opposite sides of the first end and protrude from the inside to the outside of the housing. The cross-sectional size of the first end of the housing is adapted for insertion into the cigarette lighter socket so that the first and second electrical contacts can be in electrical contact with the socket.
The first electrode control has an internal end that is connected to an internal electrode by an elongated conductive spring. Power is conveyed through the electrodes and the spring to energize several safe electrical control components within the housing to provide heat at varying temperatures to a fragrance laden pad and to operate the fragrance emitting phenomenon. A cover is connected to the electric diffusers and surrounds the pad to protect against injury.

The vines wrap all the way around the warmer and with such detail that the picture on here couldnt pick up. The seller was very fast, packaging was great too, and it came earlier than it was scheduled to! I use it in the bathroom, laundry room and bedrooms. They plug into a regular light socket. The diffuser itself is rather long so you will not be able to plug in something else above it or under it on a double socket.
Worth the price for a wonderfully smelling home!

After being away from my camera for 3 weeks, I am back in full effect. It’s like I found my groove again. So here are some shots I took again of my oil scented reed diffusers. I especially love the ones out of the bottle.
One bottle had no oil left in it and the other had a tiny bit leftover. That is one some are wet and some are dry.
Diffusers are used in conjunction with essential oils. They work to disperse the oils in the air so that they can be breathed in and enjoyed by everyone in the room. There are a number of different styles, some use power and a fan and while others use small amounts of heat to disperse the aroma. The primary types of diffusers are atomizers, fan diffusers, tea light diffusers, electric oil warmers, the scent ball, terra cotta disks.
An atomizer consists of a pump and glass. These disperse the essential oils into a very fine mist and then disperse them. It is important that they are not left on too long. It only requires just a few minutes and then you’ll be able to smell the scent perfectly. If you let this type of diffuser stay on longer than that, then you can get too much essential oil into the air and this can cause problems.
A fan diffuser uses a fan to dispense the essential oil molecules in the air. These are good if you have children. They won’t be in danger of being burned like they might with heated diffusers.
A personal nasal inhaler is a type of diffuser. It is used for personal use, hence the name. If there are other people in the room who would rather not smell the oil, this is a great way to enjoy the scent without offending anyone else.
Tea light diffusers use the heat from a tea light candle. They are very easy to use and are generally used by beginners. You will generally get about 2-3 hours from this type of diffuser.
An electric bowl warmer diffuser consists of primarily a bowl. You will need to add your essential oil and water and the diffuser will heat the mixture up. You should get a couple of hours out of this type of diffuser as well.
The scent ball is another really good diffuser. What is great about these is that you will be able to take them with you. If you change rooms and you still want to enjoy your scent, you can. You will also be able to change out your scent pad so that you can exchange it for another if you’d like. These also use a low source of heat to diffuse the scent. They are extremely cheap so you can purchase more then one.
Ceramic shells last a little longer then the diffusers listed above. They may actually keep the scent in a small area for about a day.
Besides essential oils, another great way to scent a room is with candles. Aromatherapy candles \smell absolutely wonderful and can help calm the nerves and emotions. After a long, hard day, relaxing with a wonderful aromatherapy fragrant candle can take the edge off and help you relax. There is a large array of these types of candles. You can find one in just about every scent. You can purchase them online or make them yourselves in your favorite scents and colors.

The scented candle is a product which has remained a popular gift over many years. With more and more increased competition internally and externally, this method of home fragrance is under pressure, and it is within this article that these pressures are questioned – why should the scented candle be defended against such pressures and why the scented candle will continue to be just simply a perfect gift.
Interior design is a continually evolving business; new trends, new styles, new products. I present one example of this. With the ascension of the fragrance diffuser in recent years, the scented candle has suffered. The fragrance diffuser, which is also known as the reed diffuser, is marketed as a safer way to provide luxury household scenting, eliminating the fire hazard which candles present. The fragrance diffuser does provide varied advantage; aromas through this means can be deployed anywhere, in places where scented candles simply cannot reasonably be used; diffusers rule the workplace. But there is still a place for the scented candle in our homes. Any worries and fears over the use of candles in the home can easily be allayed. Most candles now come in non-flammable holders which do not fall over easily, and if used sensibly by keeping the flame away from anything particularly flammable, such as curtains, can be as safe as any other household object. When used properly candles can be a safe addition to the look and feel of your house – there is something unmistakably atmospheric about the glow of a scented candle as it fills the room with its essence.
A scented candle is another of those products which can be called a perfect gift; the appeal is universal. Such candles are atmospheric, soothing, the ideal gift for ‘her’. There is a reason why ‘smelly candles’ are at the top of many women’s lists this year. But scented candles are not restricted to personal presents, and hold as a successful home gift. From an interior design point of view, scented candles can be instrumental. The scented candle can provide the finishing touches, or can equally dominating the focus of a room depending on Candle styles and positioning. I've got both the Car Diffuser and AC outlet Scentball diffuser by Aura Cacia and while these pads fit well in the Car Diffuser, it's a poor fit for the Scent Ball diffuser. These are the same size pads that came with the Aura Cacia wall unit.I don't know if the manufacturer was trying to cut costs by cutting the pads in half but these pads are too short and does not cover the entire surface area of the heating element. It's too loose and does not make good contact with the heating element which diffuses the oil more slowly, which some people may prefer. It can also be frustrating trying to remove the pads if it gets stuck under the "fingers" of the diffuser and I've found myself at times spending a minute or so trying to get them out.I ended up purchasing the Earth Solutions Scentball Refills (search for "Scentball Refills") which are longer and fit the Scentball units perfectly and is also thicker, creating better contact with the heating element. I use Edens Garden's "Stress Relief" blend (my favorite) in my diffusers and the Earth Solutions pads does a does a much better job filling up the room with it after a long day of work.
