You know how good it is to improve your property with your favorite scents, but, do you know how nice it is to do it with a reed diffuser? With holidays usually just around the corner, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year, there is just about usually a particular working day about to take place within a couple of weeks.
How about St. Patrick’s Day time, May Day, the 1st Day time of Spring or St. Andrews Day time to name a few?Maybe you would like to incorporate reed diffusers and a selection of scented reeds for everyday. The cost is very reasonable, you don’t have to wait for a festive event or distinctive day to appreciate a fresh or enticing breeze of scented air in your property, use the diffusers anytime you like. Not only is the fragrance variety varied and versatile the diffusers and the reeds that go with them are widely obtainable in the UK.
The diffuser is the small to medium sized flask or jar that holds the scents and the reeds. The reeds absorb the oils and then slowly disperse them into the air thereby creating or transferring the sweet smells you so desire. Some scents to try inlude: fresh linen, lilac, pear, clean cotton, black cherry, vanilla, vanilla lime, lavender vanilla, apple spice, sweet pea or cinnamon in standard scents. Scented diffuser oil in much more exotic aromas contain bamboo and green tea, vanilla and cassis, jasmine and woody or festive blended scents.
The diffuser reeds last from five to nine weeks, so you can bring them out for particular days and let them linger as a highlight to the event or use them anytime you have the mood, perhaps after a main house cleaning chore.

This review is from: Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Scent Diffuser Refill, Lavender, .71-Ounce Units (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
Mrs. Meyers has great products. I use the laundry detergent, countertop cleaner and hand soap. I purchased the Scent Diffusers because I love the way the other products make everything smell wonderful.
These diffusers DO NOT disappoint. They are potent enough to fill an entire room for quite some time. Other diffusers never let off enough fragrance to make a difference. These are quite strong to begin with but soon mellow to a wonderful warm scent. They last quite some time because of their essential oil base. I use it in the bathroom, laundry room and bedrooms. They plug into a regular light socket. The diffuser itself is rather long so you will not be able to plug in something else above it or under it on a double socket. Worth the price for a wonderfully smelling home!

I like Mrs. Meyer's products, and I enjoy a relatively strong scent in my home. The lavender is pretty good when you can find it, but both lemon verbena and basil are overpowering synthetic smells.

Here’s a scent diffuser we put on our kitchen window sill.
Highly scented candles are more often than not a very aggressive way to make your home smell more pleasant. It is important to keep in mind, though, that creating the right fragrance in the home is a delicate affair that must be handled gently and tastefully. In the same way that the art of applying make up does not entail putting as many glaring colors on the face as possible, so too with fragrance in the home it is not always best to overwhelm the room with the overbearing odors. Unfortunately, most of the highly scented candles available online cannot boast much in the way of subtlety.
An elegant and subdued alternative to highly scented candles is to use a reed diffuser. Not only does the reed diffuser offer a more aesthetic appearance than the scented candle (which often brings to mind the look of a college dorm room), but it also gives off a scent that is more even throughout the room and is richer without being so in your face. The fragrance from an aromatherapy diffuser is typically described as more vibrant than the odor of a scented candle.
How do reed diffusers work?
A reed diffuser is a device that is ingenious in its simplicity. As with all things that are effective as relaxing agents, it is not overly complicated. The reed diffuser consists of a glass container partially filled with scented oil. The scent of this oil is dispersed (or diffused) throughout the room by way of a collection of reeds that are deposited in the glass container. The reeds, following their natural inclination to suck up moisture, slowly absorb the oil and act as a conduit between the container full of fragrance and the atmosphere of the room.
Best of all, there is no sacrificing variety when you use room fragrance sticks. Soap stores such as Sabon, which has many locations in the New York area and also has a full inventory available online, has a very long history of providing a wide variety of top-quality reed diffusers.
Another drawback with candles is that every candle you light must be blown out when no one is in the house.
Either that or they carry the distinct risk of burning the house down. Plus, candles have a tendency to melt into unattractive globs. A home scent diffuser carries none of these drawbacks. A reed diffuser will last for ages and never has to be turned off. The sticks only need to soak up liquid, so there is no melting into a lump like there is with scented candles. Plus they are 100% safe. Unlike with candles, there is no risk of fire. No flames or heat are required. Reed diffusers are safe for any room and for any age group, and there’s no soot or other carbon particles to get into the walls and furniture in your house.

I am very serious about buying enviornmentally friendly products and found this to be an important point to the product. I was skeptical at first until I received the product. It was not only earth friendly but smelled great! It filled up my entire bedroom with a lovely aroma. I am very happy with my product and would definitly buy again as well as recommend this product to a friend.

But these do not work. I have had them in my living room and bedroom for two weeks with virtually ZERO fragrance. These are not my first reed diffusers. I have never had this experience with any other reed diffuser that I've ever bought. This product is worthless and should not be bought.

We had one in a few rooms in our house and I really only noticed the scent once I was within appx 4 feet of the reeds. I was hoping for something that would spread a little farther without having chemicals spraying into the air on a regular basis - I guess that is the trade off. If you do use these, it is important to note that once the reeds have been soaking you are supposed to flip them upside down...we didn't realize that until a few days of use. It certainly increased the spread of the scent, but not for long.

A reed diffuser is a good way to add fragrance to an area. The advantage of a reed diffuser is it supplies a fragrance scent without the need for a flame or electricity. This allows a reed diffuser to be used in a location that a candle would not be allowed. Such as some offices, dorm rooms or fire restricted areas. The additional advantage of a reed diffuser, at least oil filled reed diffusers is that they last a long time without a re-fill. Our reed diffusers at Essential Pleasures are all oil filled. This is not true of less expensive alcohol filled reed diffusers wish are used up more quickly. We have gotten many months of use out of single oil filled reed diffuser in our home.
The principle behind the operation of a reed diffuser is the fragrance filled oil travels up the reeds to then disperse the fragrance in the air. The more reeds you use typically 9 to 12 reeds the stronger the scent. The fewer the number of reeds used in a reed diffuser the weaker the scent. That way you can control the amount of scent by adjusting the number of reeds used. It is best at times to flip the reeds over, especially when first starting the reed diffuser to get the action started or to improve the action if the scent has weakened in the area. You must be very careful when working with a reed diffuser; the fragrance filled oil can remove the finish on any surface if spilled. Normally when flipping the reeds I remove them slowly wipe the removed end with a paper towel then place them back in the diffuser.
Reed diffusers are supplied in many different designs to match almost any décor. They work best in small rooms such as baths, which need just that right amount of scent. At Essential Pleasures we also sell .the diffuser oil and reeds separately, this can be used to refresh a reed diffuser you already have or to make a vase or container you have into a reed diffuser. We do recommend that you change the reeds in a diffuser when you add more fragranced diffuser oil. Over time the reeds will clog and not work as well as when first started.
A nice addition to a reed diffuser is an aroma bud. An aroma bud is a rose made out of thin wood. These buds look exactly like rose buds and work just like reeds in a reed diffuser. The aroma buds must be kept from direct contact with the diffuser oil since it will damage the glue on the buds we recommend at least six (6) inches from the top of the oil, not the stem just the bud itself. The stem of the bud is placed in the diffuser oil. We also do recommend that reeds be used in addition to the buds for additional fragrance throw. The buds are available in many colors and make a wonderful rose bud display to add to your décor. The buds can also be used with out the diffuser oil and used with a linen spray that is sold at Essential Pleasures to add fragrance to the rose buds. We carry over 400 fragrances at Essential Pleasures. We are sure you will find many you like. One we sell is called fresh cut roses that smell just like a bouquet of roses.
Please make sure that you keep reed diffusers and diffuser oil out of the reach of small children and pets.

There are a number of different types of organic aromatherapy oil available for purchase today, making it hard to pick the best type of aromatherapy oil for your home. There are many different criteria that you should consider when picking an organic aromatherapy oil because there can be many differences between the different aromatherapy oil types. By considering all of the different options available, the person will be able to obtain the best type of organic aromatherapy oil for their needs.
Choices to Make
The first choice that will need to be made when picking organic aromatherapy oil for your home is which type of aromatherapy oil you like the best. Many people pick aromatherapy oil blends that have basic scents because the aromatherapy oil will provide a scent that will be unobtrusive and will not clash with the smells of any cleaning solutions or cooking that occurs in the home.
Small aromatherapy oil burners can be used in a number of different areas of the home and are typically designed to blend in to the decor of the room. The amount of work required for using the aromatherapy oil in certain types of burners and other devices is another thing that should be weighed when picking a brand of organic aromatherapy oil.
Some types of organic aromatherapy oil will not work with certain types of aromatherapy devices while some others can leave a thick residue on the equipment that can be difficult to remove. Some types of organic aromatherapy oil will need to be restricted to certain types of devices so that the item being used to release the scent of the aromatherapy oil will continue to remain in good condition for a long period of time.
Where to Obtain Them
Organic aromatherapy oil is a very popular aromatherapy oil choice because it can be very easy to find. There are a number of different retailers that sell different types of aromatherapy oils in various locations and will often have a wide selection of organic aromatherapy oils to pick from.
The number of different types of organic aromatherapy oil available will mean that the person should be able to find an aromatherapy oil scent that they like with the benefits that they prefer. If no retailers close to their home have aromatherapy oil types that are desirable, the person can always try finding the right aromatherapy oil products online.
Many physical retailers across the country will also have an online store where they will provide an option to purchase the different types of organic aromatherapy oils that they carry in their stores and will ship the aromatherapy oil directly to the person’s home home. Although this option may be more expensive, because the homeowner is paying for the item and the shipping costs, it is a good way to get the exact type of aromatherapy oil that they want.

An aromatherapy diffuser allows you to benefit from aromatherapy by getting the oils into the air. You can use many vices as an aromatherapy diffuser including a vaporizer, humidifier, and nebulizer. An aromatherapy diffuser allows you to inhale the oils to relieve respiratory infections, colds, and asthma. There are also several types of actual aromatherapy differs if you don’t want to use another device you already have in your home for one.
An electric fan aromatherapy diffuser doesn’t use heat. It operates on batteries. They blow cold air through a pad that has been saturated with aromatherapy oils. A steam aromatherapy diffuser works very similar except it plugs into the wall and hot water creates steam. Aromatherapy oil is added to the water before it begins to boil. They make a very small aromatherapy diffuser that fits into your purse. You can take it anywhere, even when traveling. The product has four chambers and a cover so your aromatherapy oils won’t spill all over the contents of your purse.
Have you ever wanted to use an aromatherapy diffuser to help you sleep better or maybe get over an illness? While it is tempting, most of us are too afraid of the fire risk to sleep with it on. There is an aromatherapy nebulizer than has a timer on it. This is perfect for getting the scents you need to feel better and rest better without the risk of causing an out of control fire. The oil is in a small vital that attaches to the side of the nebulizer.
Ever wish you had an aromatherapy diffuser to use in your vehicle? Your wish has been granted. The vehicle diffuser comes with small pads that you place drops of oil on. It plugs into your cigarette lighter to fill your car with great smells. Make sure you use a scent that won’t make you sleepy!
A candle can be used as a diffuser as well. Light the candle and allow it to burn for about 15 minutes. Put it out and pour some aromatherapy oil on the melted wax then relight the candle. A very popular aromatherapy diffuser is the oil burner. These are very inexpensive and decorative as well. It comes with a ceramic bowl. You pour water and aromatherapy oil into the bowl. A burner sits under the bowl heating it.
To get the most out of your aromatherapy diffuser, make sure you only use oils that are made from natural products. You should also know what the different plants and herbs can do. For example if you are trying to get a good night of sleep don’t choose one that energizes you. If you have a long evening planned then use the one for energy not to help you sleep! An aromatherapy quick reference guide can help you with this information. The internet is a great place to find it as well. For best results when you want it, keep a supply of various aromatherapy oils available.

May 21, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Westinghouse WDD100 Ultrasonic Humidifier with Aromatherapy, 8-1/2-Ounce Tank (Kitchen)Excellent one-of-a-kind product.
I've researched many and used a few diffuser and this is the best. Probably the only one at the top without some serious problem.
I followed the instructions (you HAVE to do that) and it works perfectly every time.
HOWEVER...you must thoroughly clean the unit after every use.
You cannot leave anything in the unit overnight...it will gum up the works.
Sadly, we'll have to wait for some new alien technology to totally revolutionize diffusers to avoid this. What this thing does is use an ultrasonic pad to turn the liquid into mist, which will leave a residue. I'm not going to try it but I'm sure performance would degrade rapidly if it were not cleaned until such time as it stops working (weeks? no more than a month).
Also...it's not easy to clean...they didn't design it to be easy to clean. I have larger ultrasonic humidifiers which are easy to clean. This one is so tiny it's hard to get to all the crevices.
On the box it says it is a humidifier/diffuser. Which is true. If you put nothing but distilled water in it, you could use it as a humidifier for a very small area and never clean it. So...following that logic, you could use any humidifier as a diffuser. Just put a few drops of essential oil and some water on the ultrasonic pad then put the water tank in place and turn it on.
Advice:
Don't put it next to something that emits heat ... it has a sensor and will shut itself off if it overheats.

January 20, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Westinghouse WDD100 Ultrasonic Humidifier with Aromatherapy, 8-1/2-Ounce Tank (Kitchen)I have this unit located in my bedroom which replaced a Pearlessence diffuser. The unit is much quieter than the other, but I think as far as scent is concerned the Pearlessence worked a bit better. It does have some new features that I like more like the 30 second timer, water reservoir, and a on /off switch located on front of the unit. I have solved the scent problem by adding just a few more drops of oil.

It is great for light humidifying for a small room and the aroma sample that comes in the package is pleasant smelling. The light transitions smoothly from color to color and is really pretty. Maybe it's just me but it also makes a comforting butterfly-like pattern on the ceiling when the lights are off. I think it would be great in a child's room as it can serve as a night light in a way!

August 16, 2010 ByKristin (Montgomery, Alabama) - See all my reviewsAmazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Oregon Scientific WS903 Aroma Diffuser and Sound Therapy Clock (Health and Beauty)UPDATE: 1/04/2011
I've had the clock now for 5 months and decided to do an update. I still enjoy it even after the novelty of it has worn off and everything works for me fine. No issues, no breakage of any kind, haven't lost the remote and the aromatherapy still works. Cons for me are still the same as I mentioned below. One additional thing I do not like that some other individuals have mentioned is a beep. An annoyingly 1 second cold monotone beep. What was Oregon Scientific thinking when they decidied to kill this lovely clock by inserting that beep? I mean, seriously?
Okay, so mine isn't an issue so much as listening to the sounds before I go to sleep as I really don't care for sound at bedtime. However, I can see how the other reviewers could be perturbed at being awakened at the end of their relaxing 15 minutes with that beep. I'd be super annoyed as well, what would be the point of even listening to it? Mine is the fact that the damn beep goes off five minutes before my alarm comes on. Wait, what? Yes. Five minutes before I get to hear the lovely sound of birds chirping or water cascading I get awoken by a "Beeeeeeeeeeeep". I, at this point, am already awake by the time my soft alarm goes off. What's the point? I don't get it. It's obvious to me that Oregon Scientific just has a sick sense of humor and they win this round.
Even though I hate them and wish they'd burn at this point, I still like the clock and would still potentially purchase it again. However, not above 60-70 bucks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This might be a bit of a longer review, so bear with me. I figured with as much deliberation as I put into purchasing this item, maybe it might help someone else out.
This item came up on Amazon's deal of the day on August 10, 2010. A lot of moolah for a glorified alarm clock, right?
As I was contemplating purchasing this device, I started to read some of the comments left on the deal of the day comment board. The majority, if not all, were negative in regards to this device. I started to get swayed by reading these and had basically talked myself out of purchasing it; after all, what idiot would spend $70 on an alarm clock on sale?
Obviously this one.
What made me purchase it? After doing every bit of research I could do on this product for information (let me tell you, there isn't enough out there) a few things made me think, maybe it isn't that bad. First, I watched the video done by Oregon Scientific located on the Amazon page itself. A little cheesy, but hey, the chick's accent is pretty soothing, I think they did that on purpose though. Secondly, I went to Walmart and checked out their alarm clocks/diffusers/multiple function devices (yep, in the same day just to verify prices), and they ranged anywhere from $10 for a cheap little digital one, up to $30-$60+ for ones with a little bit more technology (IE: AM/FM radio, cd player, iPod adapter, etc.). Still, none seemed as cool as this one did. I then researched online and saw people were paying $125+, depending on manufacturer, for sunrise clocks. Suddenly, I didn't feel so wasteful anymore (I was going to say, feel like an idiot anymore, but I didn't want to offend any sunrise clock purchasers; after all, you should get what you want). Of course, I hate light in the morning, so one of those just wouldn't do it for me.
Lastly, I found this review on youtube:
Review | Oregon Scientific - Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser (you'll need to put this in the search area as Amazon doesn't like links)
At this point, I was hooked. I couldn't stop myself from clicking the purchase button, even if I wanted to. I wanted this little contraption and nothing but a sellout would prevent me from getting it (albeit a $99.99 price tag). I received it within two days of ordering it and like a little kid receiving a new package, was ever elated in opening it. Pulling it out, I thought, "Hey, this is pretty dang neat." No, I'm not really that dull, but this is after all an Amazon review, have to keep it clean, dontcha know. However, nor am I going to admit that I was jumping through my house holding an alarm clock while simultaneously swaying my arms back and forth in the air due to unbridled joy. Anyway, setting up was easy, I already had oil purchased previously that I could use, and voila... done. My new alarm with aroma therapy and light was ready to be used!
I cannot say that as of yet, that I regret this purchase in the least. To be honest, I really only got this alarm clock for its nature sound capabilities, which I read that Oregon Scientific has some of the best. I have chronic dry eye due to PRK surgery and often when ripping my eyes open in the morning in... Read more

December 29, 2010 ByThis review is from: Oregon Scientific WS903 Aroma Diffuser and Sound Therapy Clock (Health and Beauty)I think the product itself is very nice for someone like me who enjoys the sensory experience of nature sounds and aromatherapy. The unit looks nice and the remote control is easy to work. I really enjoy the aromatherapy in particular. Based on the product alone I would have given it a higher review.
There are two things that really bug me.
First, as another reviewer mentioned there is a mechanical beep that sounds at the end of a session when you set it to sleep mode. This is so jarring and seems totally at odds with the purpose of the machine.
Second, I had trouble getting the alarm function to work - I see that it can be an alarm, but I couldn't figure out how to work it - the manual was no help. I called customer service and they were stumped. Said they would call me back and did not. Received an email in response to my inquiry that said that the product was to go to sleep to, not to be an alarm. Huh? It says it has an alarm function on its own website!
My mechanically-inclined spouse figured out the alarm and I'll be happy to provide instructions in case anyone struggles like I did.

February 10, 2011 ByAmazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Oregon Scientific WS903 Aroma Diffuser and Sound Therapy Clock (Health and Beauty)I liked some things about it, but not enough to keep it. I bought this on a lightning deal for $60. It's definitely not worth more than that. Here is my take on this item:
Pros:
1. The diffuser worked really well as far as diffusing the essential oil scents. (However, it kept automatically shutting off. More on this in Cons.)
2. I liked the "idea" of the lights, sounds, and diffuser.
3. The unit was well-constructed. I was happy with the appearance of it.
Cons:
1. The instructions in the "manual" were hard to follow and gave limited information. Once I figured everything out, I was fine. But it took some time to figure out how to operate it. There should have been more information given especially on the diffuser. Big thumbs down for the manual.
2. The sounds were okay, but became annoying. They were very short sound clips that just repeated over and over. There could be a definite improvement with the sounds.
3. I hated that you could only control all functions with the remote.
4. There is no snooze option with the alarm. I need a snooze.
5. The beep was really annoying as others have stated in their reviews.
6. The lights didn't do anything for me. Yeah, it looked cool, but I didn't plan on sitting there staring at the unit to see lights change color. I expected more.
7. The diffuser kept automatically shutting off. I didn't have it on the timer and couldn't find anything in the "manual" to explain why this kept happening. I tried to call the company and was on hold for 30 minutes. It was around Christmas when I tried to call, but it was still frustrating. I hung up before anyone even answered due to the long hold time.
Overall, there are just too many functions wrapped up into one with this unit and none of them were perfected. I am going to look for two different units; a quality diffuser that is only a diffuser and then a quality alarm clock with nature sounds. I can do without the lights.

Pulling it out, I thought, "Hey, this is pretty dang neat."
