Aromatherapy, like many new practices, is riding on to success-ville. Everyone wants to attempt some yoga or have a massage with scents that will relax not only your physique but also your soul. But along with its rising popularity is the rising amount of questions about the process. What is it about? What makes it work? Is it secure? Does it actually calm the nerves and relax the muscles? Aromatherapy is the practice or use of oil extracts from plants for their medicinal and aromatic advantages in order to improve psychological, spiritual and physical effectively becoming. Correct aromatherapy does not contain the use of oils that are only utilized for fragrance. These are considered unnatural goods since they have been tampered with already in the laboratories. Most think that aromatherapy is a new discovery but the truth is, the practice of using vital oils for medicinal and aromatic purposes has been going on for centuries. It began with the Greeks and the Egyptians, who utilized a crude distillation procedure to extract oils from the plants and flowers in the location. One of the main positive aspects of aromatherapy is in the improvement of a person’s psychological and mental state. Aromatherapy, they claim, can aid relax the thoughts and get rid of the daily strain that individuals endure from. It can lighten the mood and alleviate strain signs and symptoms such as feelings of depression, heaviness and sadness. Of course, it can not cure actual psychological issue. And if you are thinking along these terms, you are in for a disappointment. Aromatherapy only assists to alleviate the surface effects of strain but not the underlying causes and psychological troubles. There are also claims that aromatherapy has medicinal purposes and it has but it does not directly cure an illness. It only serves to strengthen the bodies of the person and also calm their fears so that they can far better cope with the illness. Aromatherapy can also in easing the feelings of nausea when having an illness. This is particularly true with folks who are undergoing chemotherapy. Also, aromatherapy can strengthen one’s immune system, which is a big plus in fighting off diseases and illness.Like with the claims with psychological well becoming, aromatherapy can not cure a disease. Individuals who claim otherwise ought to not be trusted. Aromatherapy indirectly assists but it does not straight cure the issue. Another benefit that aromatherapy provides in the improvement in widespread ailments such as indigestion, acne and other skin issues and also PMS and menstruation. The therapy has been acknowledged to help stop dysmenorrhea, a problem wherein a individual feels pain in the abdominal area due to menstruation. Essential oils are also utilized and combined with some hair care formulas simply because they have been recognized to keep the hair wholesome and shiny. The very same goes with skin care. Aromatherapy can also assist in coping and dealing with various emotions. In fact, there are unique plant extracts that can be employed for this extremely objective. Anger for instance can be alleviated by Jasmine, Orange, Roman Chamomile, Rose and Ylang Ylang whilst anxiety can be dealt with extracts from plants such as Bergamot, Geranium, Cedarwood and Lavender. Confidence can be enhanced with a touch of Cypress, Bay Laurel and Rosemary whilst depression can be alleviated by Clary Sage, Helichrysum, Neroli, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Mandarin.

This review is from: Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils (Paperback)
I love this book. I am a Registered Aromatherapist who prepares blends for physical, mental, and emotional well being. The author writes with such detail that the oils become alive with their own personalities. The beginning is a brief explanation of Aromatherapy, Oriental medicine and Astrology. This is followed by a wonderful Materia Medica with explanations of 37 oils. Each oil is described in two pages which include a brief botanical description, ancient uses, oriental uses of a physical, emotional and spiritual nature, and an astrological description. He gives suggestions for oils along with detailed explanations for nervous tension, overthinking and worry, anxiety and apprehension, poor concentration and memory, lack of confidence and self-esteem, anger and frustration, disempowerment and indecision, depression and negativity, and problems in relating. I refer to this book often.

In my opinion, this is the finest exploration of the emotional uses of essential oils in print today, and I'm delighted it has been reissued. Gabriel's overview of TCM and how it applies to aromatherapy is thought provoking; but it is in his descriptions of the emotions and of the oils that his work truly shines. This book is a must have for anyone interested in healing on levels beyond the purely physical.

This review is from: Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils (Paperback)
Having read Gabriel's articles on how to utilize aromatherapy in concert with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I was thrilled to find he had published this gem of a book. Although its approach works best for those who have studied acupuncture or Chinese herbology, it is also for those with a little familiarity with shiatsu or 5 element theory. He does a good job of explaining 5 element theory for those completely unfamiliar with Chinese medicine, too. The descriptions of essential oils and how they are to be used is most useful for psychoemotional difficulties, but sufficient info on physical uses is included. I highly recommend this book to people with an interest in both aromatherapy and Chinese medicine, though any aromatherapy practitioner will glean new and useful information.

This review is from: Car Diffuser Aromatherapy 1 Count (Kitchen)
This aromatherapy car diffuser is very simple to use. You put a few drops of any essential oil on a small pad that you insert into the front of the diffuser, plug it into your car lighter and that's it. The fragrance is noticeable within a minute or two depending on how many oil drops you use. Usually between three and five drops is enough for most cars. I have tried peppermint oil and it makes the air feel cool to breathe and does help keep you alert. Any pure oil will work, but mint or citrus oils (like grapefruit or sweet orange) have worked best for me in my car. The pads seem to last a long time and it's best to use one pad for each different fragrance you use. The diffuser comes with five pads. Additional refill pads can be purchased seperately (very inexpensive). I prefer this diffuser to typical car air freshners that have a strong artificial or overly perfumy smell. 5 stars!

This works but does not produce a long lasting scent. You have to reapply essential oil often to get the smell in your car. Would not recommend.

This review is from: 64-Bottle Essential Oils Presentation Case and Portfolio 5-15ml - Black (Health and Beauty)
This essential oil case is perfect - I have no complaints. When stored upright toward the handle all of your oils are facing cap up, (as long as you put them in properly, with cap facing toward the "binding" of the portfolio). It easily takes 1/2 oz bottles in all rows if you do this. I now have my 55 oils alphabetized so I can find them easily - no more digging through one case to find what I need. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

Chiropractic is a form of health care that focuses on the relationship between the structure of the spine and the body’s function. Also called chiropractors or chiropractic physicians, they use a type of hands-on therapy consisting of manipulation of the bones and joints as their core clinical procedure. This career field manages to do quite well without calling a great deal of attention to itself, and if you are good with your hands and want to get into medical practice but want to specialize in a field and not take so much time in school, perhaps the chiropractic career is right for you.
How’d it start?
The word “chiropractic” combines the Greek words cheir (hand) and praxis (action) and means “doing it by hand.” Chiropractic is considered an alternative medical system and takes a different approach from conventional medicine in diagnosing, classifying, and treating medical problems.
Chiropractic has a long and distinguished lineage. Chiropractic was first described by Hippocrates in ancient Greece. Chiropractic came to us in it’s present-day form via Daniel David Palmer, who in 1895 founded the modern profession of chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer was a student of healing philosophies of the day. It was his observation that the body has a natural healing ability that is controlled by the nervous system, that misalignments of the spine interfere with the body’s natural operation which itself was a concept borrowed from osteopathic traditions, and that one could develop a procedure to adjust the bones of the spinal column with the goal of correcting it’s setting.
What kind of training do I need?
Most chiropractic training is a four year academic course consisting of both classroom and clinical instruction. At least three years of preparatory college work are required for admission to most chiropractic schools. Students who graduate receive the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic and are eligible to take state license board examinations in order to practice. Some schools also offer postgraduate courses, including residency programs in specialized fields lasting two to three years.
Chiropractic practice is regulated individually on a state-by-state basis. Most states require chiropractors to earn continuing education credits in order to maintain their licenses. Chiropractors’ scope of practice varies by state. It can include performing laboratory tests or diagnostic procedures, the dispensing or selling of dietary supplements, and even the use of acupuncture or homeopathy. Chiropractors are not licensed in any state to perform major surgery or prescribe drugs.
Who is the typical patient?
About 200 million Americans visit chiropractors per year. Nearly half of those visits are to treat back or neck pain. Of these, some are chronic sufferers and some are the result of accidents. Conditions commonly treated by chiropractors include back pain, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, and repetitive strain injuries. Patients also seek treatment of pain associated with other conditions, such as arthritis.
Low-back pain is a common medical problem, occurring in up to one-fourth of the population each year. Most people experience significant back pain at least once during their lifetime. Often, the cause of back pain is unknown, and it varies greatly in terms of how people experience it and how professionals diagnose it. This makes back pain challenging to study, given that the spine is such a complex system of bone, cartilage, and nerve tissue.
What kinds of treatments to chiropractors provide?
Typically, the chiropractor will perform a physical examination, with special emphasis on the spine, and possibly other diagnostic examinations such as Xrays. A treatment plan is then developed.
Treatment of the patient typically includes manipulation treatment. This is a manual therapy. Given mainly to the spine, chiropractic adjustments involve applying a controlled force to a joint. These are done to increase the range and quality of motion in the area being treated. Other health care professionals such as physical therapists, sports medicine doctors, orthopedists, physical medicine specialists, doctors of osteopathic medicine, and massage therapists perform various types of manipulation. However, chiropractors perform over 90 percent of manipulative treatments within the field.
Chiropractors may use other treatments in addition to adjustment, such as mobilization, massage, and non-manual treatments. These last may be any of heat and ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, rehabilitative exercise dietary supplements, or even acupuncture. A chiropractor may also provide counseling about diet, weight loss, and other lifestyle factors.
Is chiropractic regarded as “real” medicine?
It most definitely is for back and neck pain and treatment of migraine headaches. Clinical studies have reinforced that the treatment works. But chiropractic is still seen as an “alternative” medical practice, and some other medical fields regard the practice with some skepticism. Frequently this skepticism comes from the tendency for some practitioners to branch off into homeopathy, aromatherapy, magnetic therapy, and other fringe theory venues.
Because chiropractic practice is still fighting for acceptance, it is suggested that the chiropractor stick to the practice as “by the book” and only practice proven effective techniques. Leave the New Age stuff to the psychics.
Are there studies showing the effectiveness of chiropractic?
In 1998, a study of 10,652 Florida workers’ compensation cases was conducted. It was concluded that a claimant with a back-related injury, when initially treated by a chiropractor versus a medical doctor, is less likely to become temporarily disabled. If already disabled, the patient tends to remain disabled for a shorter period of time. Claimants treated by medical doctors were hospitalized at a much higher rate than claimants treated by chiropractors!
Going further back, a 1991 study of Oregon Workers’ Compensation Claims examined randomly selected workers’ compensation cases that involved disabling low-back injuries. It found that when individuals with similar injuries were compared, those who visited chiropractors generally missed fewer days of work than those who visited other kinds of doctors.
In 1989, a survey in the state of Washington concluded that patients receiving care from health maintenance organizations were three times as likely to report satisfaction with care from chiropractors as they were with care from other physicians. The patients were also more likely to believe that their chiropractor was concerned about them. This goes to show that the “hands-on” approach of chiropractic has at least some benefit.
Chiropractic study frequently focuses on treating the “whole patient” and getting to the root cause of a problem instead of merely treating the symptoms. This makes perfect sense to some minds and is only dimly grasped by others. Perhaps it takes a special kind of person to do chiropractic right. If you’re one of those people, a career as a chiropractor could prove to be a rewarding and successful choice.
In this age of anti aging we can find many promises in the skin care market that give use hope that we have found the perfect anti-aging skin care treatment. Most women and even men are now highly motivated to hiding or removing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. We no longer admire the older generation. We actually tend to look down on people who look old or even look their age. We consider that people who have managed to fight aging well are people that are successful and to be admired. If someone does not attempt to fight aging then they are considered weak by some and we actually feel sorry for them. There is no such thing as growing old gracefully anymore, we have to fight it all the way and we are not happy to look our age but have to look younger than we really are.
Antiaging Skincare Treatment Can Help
Skin care treatment can help fight aging but the trick is to know which antiaging skincare treatment is the right choice for you? The market has produced many different creams that, when applied to the face, will remove or hide wrinkles through various chemical processes. There is a wide array of creams, oils, and ointments available from all kinds of places from health food stores to department stores to aromatherapy spas. The main thing that most people look for in choosing between these many products is that they want them to use natural ingredients where possible.
A couple of important creams that are known to be effective are:
1. Microdermabrasion
2. Vitamin K Cream
Microdermabrasion
This has become an extremely popular antiaging skincare treatment involving facial creams. Microdermabrasion is treatment that makes use of a lotion that includes micro beads to remove the outer layers of dead skin that can build up and make wrinkles look worse. Fine crystals or beads scrub the dead and damaged skin from the surface leaving a smother, softer looking skin surface. This treatment is used extensively for anti aging skin care treatments and also for problems with acne skin.
Vitamin K
Using Vitamin K cream has become very popular in recent years. This cream has been used for many different skin complaints but is increasingly being used for anti aging treatment. It is said to help diminish spider veins that will often appear with aging as the skin becomes thinner. A popular way to use Vitamin K cream is to use it on blotchy areas of the face and also on the dark circles which often appear under eyes as we age.
Often you will see a claim that a company has the ultimate cream that will remove redness, lighten pigmentation, smooth wrinkles, remove fine lines and generally fight the signs of aging. Sometimes this “magic” cream is nothing more than Vitamin K cream. They may have added components that will conceal the aging skin problems rather than actually heal them.
Get Advice
It is a good idea to consult a professional about antiaging skincare treatment. Professionals come in many different fields. Of course, there are dermatologists who can do the more involved processes but also the various dermabrasions and peels are now available at many spas and even in good effective at-home products. The best way to find a skin treatment that works for you is to ask around your friends and find something that has worked for someone else. Also don’t be afraid to give something a try, see if they have samples or if they will demonstrate it on your skin so that you know at least that you will not react to it. If it is fine then go ahead and try it. Remember to give it a fair trial period, nothing works in one day so allow enough time to see the improvements evolve and you will find your perfect antiaging skincare treatment.
