Some History On Aromatherapy

In its {precise|exact} definition, aromatherapy is the {procedure|process|method|approach} of {utilizing|using|making use of|employing} volatile plant oils in order to treat not only the physical {nicely|well|properly|effectively} {becoming|being|getting} of a {individual|person|particular person} but also his or her psychological and {psychological|mental} {well being|health|wellness}.

From decades past, apothecary drawers have been filled with {important|essential|crucial|vital} oils that have been {utilized|used|employed|utilised} in the {therapy|treatment|remedy} of {illnesses|diseases|ailments} and other {well being|health|wellness} {issues|problems|difficulties|troubles}. In {reality|fact|truth}, the practice of {utilizing|using|making use of|employing} oils has been in {location|place|spot} for {almost|nearly|practically|virtually} a thousand years. It was {nevertheless|however|nonetheless|even so} only in the 20th century when the term aromatherapy was {utilized|used|employed|utilised}.

It {began|started|started out} with the Chinese, who are {amongst|among} the {initial|first|1st|very first} cultures to incorporate the practice into their traditions. They use plant oils and burns incense to {assist|help|aid|support} {produce|create|develop|generate} balance {inside|within|inside of} the {physique|body} and harmony with nature.

Later on, the Egyptians adopted the practice and {produced|created|developed|designed} an old distiller prototype which extracts cedarwood oil crudely. The oils that they extract from the plant are then sold in markets in their {nation|country}. There are some that claim that Persia and India {had been|were} the ones that invented the distillation {procedure|process|method|approach} but of course {absolutely nothing|nothing|nothing at all|practically nothing} has been {confirmed|proven|verified} {but|yet|however|nevertheless}.

As time passed, the Egyptians {began|started|started out} to extract oils from {various|different|distinct|diverse} plants. In addition to cedarwood, they use clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and myrrh. These oils {had been|were} also {utilized|used|employed|utilised} in the embalming of their dead. In {reality|fact|truth}, when an Egyptian tomb was opened back in the early 20th century, remains and traces of these plants {had been|were} {observed|seen|noticed|witnessed} in some {components|parts|elements} of the {physique|body}. Archaeologists {had been|were} even {in a position|able|ready|capable} to smell the scent.

The Egyptians also {utilized|used|employed|utilised} the scents and the oils in some of their rituals, {particularly|especially|specifically|specially} {these|those} that are spiritual in nature. Some also {utilized|used|employed|utilised} the oils as medicines {whilst|while|although|even though} the {ladies|women|females|girls} {utilized|used|employed|utilised} them as perfumes and cosmetic. In {reality|fact|truth}, the word perfume is {believed|thought} to have come from the latin word fumum, which {indicates|means|signifies|implies} smoke. There are claims that {males|men|guys} also use fragrance like {ladies|women|females|girls} but they have an {fascinating|interesting|intriguing|exciting} {technique|method|approach|strategy} of {performing|doing|carrying out|undertaking} it. They will {location|place|spot} a solid cone of perfume on their heads, which they will gradually melt {till|until} the perfume and scent cover their {entire|whole|complete} bodies.

The Greeks also {utilized|used|employed|utilised} perfumes but of course {every thing|everything|every little thing|anything} was credited to the Gods of their mythology. {Nonetheless|Still|Nevertheless} the use of plant oils as perfume took a life of its {personal|own|very own} and soon Megallus {created|made|produced} a perfume from myrrh, which is a fatty-oil. His perfume {known as|called|referred to as|named} the Megaleion not only had aromatic {advantages|benefits|rewards|positive aspects}, it can also heal wounds and has an anti-inflammatory property towards the skin. It was also the Greeks that established the medicinal purposes of plants. In {reality|fact|truth}, the father of medicine, Hippocrates, practiced the use of plants for its aromatic and medicinal {advantages|benefits|rewards|positive aspects}.

Armed with the {understanding|knowledge|information|expertise} that they have gotten from the civilizations of the Egyptians and the Greeks, Roman Discorides wrote a book {known as|called|referred to as|named} De Materia Medica, which essays the {various|different|distinct|diverse} properties of as {a lot|much|significantly|considerably} as 500 plants.

In the 11th century, a {procedure|process|method|approach} {known as|called|referred to as|named} coiled cooling pipe was invented. This had a {big|large|huge|significant} {influence|impact|effect} on the distillation of {important|essential|crucial|vital} oils. Avicenna, a Persian, was the {1|one|one particular|a single} who {produced|created|developed|designed} the prototype, which allowed steam and vapor from the plant to cool down so that it can be extracted {much better|better|far better|greater} and {quicker|faster|more quickly|more rapidly} than other distilling machines. {Simply because|Because|Since|Due to the fact} of this invention, the {concentrate|focus} {as soon as|once|when|the moment} {once more|again|once again} went to the {advantages|benefits|rewards|positive aspects} of {important|essential|crucial|vital} plant oils.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst heating pad EVER!, August 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aromatherapy Complete Herbal Pack Set- Celestial Pattern (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this heating pad set based on the rerview, and because I had a similar product(that was great, but getting worn from daily use over years), which I wanted to replace. When the set came I was very disappointed! The fabric is extremley hard and uncomfotable! which defeats the whole purpose of a heating pad. The only reason I gave the product one star is because it does get hot.

When I called and informed the seller that I was not satisfied with the product I was told that a repackaging fee would be deducted from my return. The product came in plastic bags with tape, which I resealed in the same condition I received them in! Total rip off! BUYER BEWARE!

In general this kit is pretty good. The items I used most were the shoulder pack and the back belt. They get hot and they stay hot for a decent amount of time. When I decided I wanted these herbal packs it was because I used an herbal pack that a friend had. These packs did not smell as nice when heated and I don't think they use a high quality fill compared to some other packs out there. Also, my shoulder pack broke and obviously the stuff came out. It looked like these things are filled mostly with rice or something. I'll try to post a pic of the filling one of these days.
Also, the picture shows the items in purple. Mine came in black and I would have preferred the purple.
In general I like the kit and I'm glad I got it but it somewhat missed the mark in quality for me. I'll be looking to replace some of the components with some of the made in the USA brands which will hopefully be similar in quality as to what I tried in the past.

Watch out for this buyer/manufacturer. One of the four packs is NOT suitable to use as a heating pack at all!!! I tried heating it in the microwave and no matter how long I heated it, the temperature never changed. Then I wrote to the buyer complaining of this. He wrote back and said that this one pack (peppermint small pack) was NOT supposed to be microwaved or heated, and that it could cause a FIRE if placed in the microwave. Nice knowing that after the fact!!! The buyer suggested I contact the manufacturer with my complaint. Bad buyer, bad product, bad information... BUYER BEWARE!!!

aromatherapy oil burnerThere are a number of different types of organic aromatherapy oil available for purchase today, making it hard to pick the best type of aromatherapy oil for your home. There are many different criteria that you should consider when picking an organic aromatherapy oil because there can be many differences between the different aromatherapy oil types. By considering all of the different options available, the person will be able to obtain the best type of organic aromatherapy oil for their needs.

Choices to Make

The first choice that will need to be made when picking organic aromatherapy oil for your home is which type of aromatherapy oil you like the best. Many people pick aromatherapy oil blends that have basic scents because the aromatherapy oil will provide a scent that will be unobtrusive and will not clash with the smells of any cleaning solutions or cooking that occurs in the home.

Small aromatherapy oil burners can be used in a number of different areas of the home and are typically designed to blend in to the decor of the room. The amount of work required for using the aromatherapy oil in certain types of burners and other devices is another thing that should be weighed when picking a brand of organic aromatherapy oil.

Some types of organic aromatherapy oil will not work with certain types of aromatherapy devices while some others can leave a thick residue on the equipment that can be difficult to remove. Some types of organic aromatherapy oil will need to be restricted to certain types of devices so that the item being used to release the scent of the aromatherapy oil will continue to remain in good condition for a long period of time.

Where to Obtain Them

Organic aromatherapy oil is a very popular aromatherapy oil choice because it can be very easy to find. There are a number of different retailers that sell different types of aromatherapy oils in various locations and will often have a wide selection of organic aromatherapy oils to pick from.

The number of different types of organic aromatherapy oil available will mean that the person should be able to find an aromatherapy oil scent that they like with the benefits that they prefer. If no retailers close to their home have aromatherapy oil types that are desirable, the person can always try finding the right aromatherapy oil products online.

Many physical retailers across the country will also have an online store where they will provide an option to purchase the different types of organic aromatherapy oils that they carry in their stores and will ship the aromatherapy oil directly to the person’s home home. Although this option may be more expensive, because the homeowner is paying for the item and the shipping costs, it is a good way to get the exact type of aromatherapy oil that they want.

Needed something to make my room (that I share with 5 other military members) smell less like a gym and more like a place to sleep. Found some mix recipes on the Internet and put these to work. To my surprise nobody complained. Who thought men would resort to such things but I have created some scents that are masculine enough for the military thanks to this collection. Very happy with my purchase.

I am quickly getting addicted to these oils. I put them in an oil warmer with a lit candle while I take my shower and feel so relaxed. These oils make my home seem like a spa. The world seems to be a more peaceful place, thanks to these oils. I know they will last me a while (even though I use them everyday), but I will definitely be re-ordering when I run low.

The shipping was much faster than promised and the packaging was beautiful and protective. Great Amazon seller!

These are body oils with a spritz of essential oils. The Sandlewood is so weak smelling I dont even use it! The seller had the product delivered on time and the package was professional and completely intact. But I would NOT buy these again. Unless the world ended or the zomie apocalypse happened and I was so desperate for oils to offer the Gods as to not get eatin by walkers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased, July 15, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fragrance Oil - Essence of Relaxation - Lavender, Frankinsence, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Lemon Blossom - 10 Ml - Scented Oil (Housewares)

This review is from: Fragrance Oil - Essence of Relaxation - Lavender, Frankinsence, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, Lemon Blossom - 10 Ml - Scented Oil (Housewares)

These are purely Just a body smell.

I add a few drops of this to my humidifier when I have a cold and I breathe better all night. I can really tell a difference when I don't use it, waking up stuffy and with a headache. A little bit goes a long way! If you wake up "mouth-breathing" because of a stuffy nose, give this a try with a humidifier.

So, I would like to say that the Company Eden's Garden has redeemed themselves! I had written a review giving only one star, and without sending my broken item back(it had been crushed in the mail in the envelope they sent it to me). The product is great :-) I am very pleased with this company's prompt response, as many merchants wouldn't mind a one one-star rating. If you want to work with a company that cares, buy Eden's Garden!

What a treat to get this set in the mail. Not only did it come pretty much overnight, it was so nicely packaged and wrapped. But the biggest surprise came when I opened the boxes. I have been in the aromatherapy world for a lot of years and have seen my share of bad oils. This company is top notch in everything they do. The oils are very high quality, the labeling is classy. This set had just about everything someone could ask for. Great mixture of all the top 64 oils. Would highly recommend. Also, purchased a 64 oil holder with it, that works great. Thanks! I will be returning.

I love, love, love this set. I have fallen in love with these oils. It is not an understatement when I say I am very impressed. I received this set form my husband for Christmas. I was sad to see one small gift under the tree from him. When I opened it, I understood why. It was full of many wonderful aromas- from fruity to earthy and everywhere in between. Each oil is beautifully packaged in colorful colors, pretty enough where I want to set them all out. It makes me smile to see and smell them all. The oils themselves are very high quality and I have been known to be picky. I would highly recommend to anyone- from the first timer to the advanced. Thank you!!!

This review is from: Supreme Aromatherapy 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils Set (Essential Oil Gift Pack)- 64/ 10 ml (Health and Beauty)
I purchased the beginner Essential Oil set offered by Eden's Garden during Christmas 2010 for my wife who is a physical therapist and wanted to incorporate aromatherapy with her patients. She tested those out for a while and has diffused the oils and used them with carrier oils for massage, as well. The aromas were great and did not cause any skin irritations when used with carrier oils. So, when her birthday came around she specifically asked for the Supreme Aromatherapy set to expand her new collection (and obsession). I ordered it in March and everything arrived in perfect condition and was packaged nicely. She really loved the set. All bottles were sealed and came exactly as pictured in the product description. You definitely get your money's worth considering the cost of the oils if you added them up separately. Overall, the Essential Oils are of very good quality, smell fantastic, and have proven to be very useful. The only thing that would help is a recipe guide or list or oils that go well together.

This review is from: FRUIT 100% Pure Essential Oil 6 Set- (Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Lemongrass, Sweet Orange & Tangerine)- 6/ 10 ml (Health and Beauty)
I purchased these oils because I heard great things about the brand and I was getting tired of the Wal-mart selection not being exactly what I was looking for not to mention the fragrances smelled a little too fake. So I decided to start small and get the fruit blend.

Grapefruit- 5/5
Lemongrass (potent, almost candied version of lemon)- 5/5
Lemon (milder than the lemongrass)- 5/5
Tangerine- (milder than the sweet orange)- 4/5
Sweet Orange- 5/5
Lime- 4/5

All in all I am loving this kit and I am looking forward to getting another set of this particular product and maybe a six set of something else. The fragrances are very strong so therefore you need not use more than a few drops. The built in dropper is really a nice feature. I diluted the fragrance with a cheap version of lavender fragrance that I got from the Dollar Tree. It has a light, very subtle fragrance but nonetheless you really cannot smell much and it enhances the essential oil fragrance nicely. I used five drops of Lemongrass and two drops of Lemon and the fragrance is too strong so I would definitely watch the amount. Right now I am using an electric ceramic fragrance diffuser that I purchased from Wal-mart but I am looking for another one that allows me to control the heat and intensity of the fragrance. I am not disappointed at all and if this is your first time purchasing fragrance oil then this is the one to start with!

These smell great, but just so everyone knows "lemon" & "Lemon grass" are basically the exact same scent. The same goes for "sweet orange" and "tangerine". The lime smells like sprite and I think grapefruit is my favorite

The Great Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy, like many new practices, is riding on to success-ville. Everyone wants to attempt some yoga or have a massage with scents that will relax not only your physique but also your soul. But along with its rising popularity is the rising amount of questions about the process. What is it about? What makes it work? Is it secure? Does it actually calm the nerves and relax the muscles? Aromatherapy is the practice or use of oil extracts from plants for their medicinal and aromatic advantages in order to improve psychological, spiritual and physical effectively becoming. Correct aromatherapy does not contain the use of oils that are only utilized for fragrance. These are considered unnatural goods since they have been tampered with already in the laboratories. Most think that aromatherapy is a new discovery but the truth is, the practice of using vital oils for medicinal and aromatic purposes has been going on for centuries. It began with the Greeks and the Egyptians, who utilized a crude distillation procedure to extract oils from the plants and flowers in the location. One of the main positive aspects of aromatherapy is in the improvement of a person’s psychological and mental state. Aromatherapy, they claim, can aid relax the thoughts and get rid of the daily strain that individuals endure from. It can lighten the mood and alleviate strain signs and symptoms such as feelings of depression, heaviness and sadness. Of course, it can not cure actual psychological issue. And if you are thinking along these terms, you are in for a disappointment. Aromatherapy only assists to alleviate the surface effects of strain but not the underlying causes and psychological troubles. There are also claims that aromatherapy has medicinal purposes and it has but it does not directly cure an illness. It only serves to strengthen the bodies of the person and also calm their fears so that they can far better cope with the illness. Aromatherapy can also in easing the feelings of nausea when having an illness. This is particularly true with folks who are undergoing chemotherapy. Also, aromatherapy can strengthen one’s immune system, which is a big plus in fighting off diseases and illness.Like with the claims with psychological well becoming, aromatherapy can not cure a disease. Individuals who claim otherwise ought to not be trusted. Aromatherapy indirectly assists but it does not straight cure the issue. Another benefit that aromatherapy provides in the improvement in widespread ailments such as indigestion, acne and other skin issues and also PMS and menstruation. The therapy has been acknowledged to help stop dysmenorrhea, a problem wherein a individual feels pain in the abdominal area due to menstruation. Essential oils are also utilized and combined with some hair care formulas simply because they have been recognized to keep the hair wholesome and shiny. The very same goes with skin care. Aromatherapy can also assist in coping and dealing with various emotions. In fact, there are unique plant extracts that can be employed for this extremely objective. Anger for instance can be alleviated by Jasmine, Orange, Roman Chamomile, Rose and Ylang Ylang whilst anxiety can be dealt with extracts from plants such as Bergamot, Geranium, Cedarwood and Lavender. Confidence can be enhanced with a touch of Cypress, Bay Laurel and Rosemary whilst depression can be alleviated by Clary Sage, Helichrysum, Neroli, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Mandarin.

This review is from: Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils (Paperback)
I love this book. I am a Registered Aromatherapist who prepares blends for physical, mental, and emotional well being. The author writes with such detail that the oils become alive with their own personalities. The beginning is a brief explanation of Aromatherapy, Oriental medicine and Astrology. This is followed by a wonderful Materia Medica with explanations of 37 oils. Each oil is described in two pages which include a brief botanical description, ancient uses, oriental uses of a physical, emotional and spiritual nature, and an astrological description. He gives suggestions for oils along with detailed explanations for nervous tension, overthinking and worry, anxiety and apprehension, poor concentration and memory, lack of confidence and self-esteem, anger and frustration, disempowerment and indecision, depression and negativity, and problems in relating. I refer to this book often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional Aromatherapy, July 22, 2000
This review is from: Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils (Paperback)
In my opinion, this is the finest exploration of the emotional uses of essential oils in print today, and I'm delighted it has been reissued. Gabriel's overview of TCM and how it applies to aromatherapy is thought provoking; but it is in his descriptions of the emotions and of the oils that his work truly shines.

This book is a must have for anyone interested in healing on levels beyond the purely physical.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Coverage of Aromatherapy & TCM, May 10, 2000
This review is from: Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit: Restoring Emotional and Mental Balance with Essential Oils (Paperback)
Having read Gabriel's articles on how to utilize aromatherapy in concert with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I was thrilled to find he had published this gem of a book. Although its approach works best for those who have studied acupuncture or Chinese herbology, it is also for those with a little familiarity with shiatsu or 5 element theory. He does a good job of explaining 5 element theory for those completely unfamiliar with Chinese medicine, too. The descriptions of essential oils and how they are to be used is most useful for psychoemotional difficulties, but sufficient info on physical uses is included. I highly recommend this book to people with an interest in both aromatherapy and Chinese medicine, though any aromatherapy practitioner will glean new and useful information.

This review is from: Car Diffuser Aromatherapy 1 Count (Kitchen)
This aromatherapy car diffuser is very simple to use. You put a few drops of any essential oil on a small pad that you insert into the front of the diffuser, plug it into your car lighter and that's it. The fragrance is noticeable within a minute or two depending on how many oil drops you use. Usually between three and five drops is enough for most cars. I have tried peppermint oil and it makes the air feel cool to breathe and does help keep you alert. Any pure oil will work, but mint or citrus oils (like grapefruit or sweet orange) have worked best for me in my car. The pads seem to last a long time and it's best to use one pad for each different fragrance you use. The diffuser comes with five pads. Additional refill pads can be purchased seperately (very inexpensive). I prefer this diffuser to typical car air freshners that have a strong artificial or overly perfumy smell. 5 stars!

This review is from: 64-Bottle Essential Oils Presentation Case and Portfolio 5-15ml - Black (Health and Beauty)
This essential oil case is perfect - I have no complaints. When stored upright toward the handle all of your oils are facing cap up, (as long as you put them in properly, with cap facing toward the "binding" of the portfolio). It easily takes 1/2 oz bottles in all rows if you do this. I now have my 55 oils alphabetized so I can find them easily - no more digging through one case to find what I need. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.
